News of the Guastani family’s retaliation spread, Kevin, Ray and Mitchel along with Mitchel’s parents were sequestered in two rooms on the fifth floor of the “Green Fern” Motel which rested near the space sport, below a monorail over pass, hidden in sight and sound.
Mr. Redbone was furious, not even looking at Mitchel, he paced back and forth.
MR. REDBONE
I am very disappointed in you Mitchie.
Mitchel shifted in his seat across from the bed.
MITCHEL
I’m sorry you got dragged into this but things just escalated real fast.
MR. REDBONE
You’re telling me! One minute I’m cashing out a double wax on a Vista Cruiser and bam! The G-men show up and stick me in here with you!
Mitchel’s Mother returned to the conversation after zoning out while channel surfing.
MRS. REDBONE
They’re just police Yanny not F.B.I. agents.
MR. REDBONE
Don’t start with me Laurel!
Mitchel stood up heading to the door.
MITCHEL
I saw some vending machines in the lobby, how about I get you something, anything.
MR. REDBONE
You’re trying to appease me with junk food? Like I’m some fat kid?
MRS. REDBONE
Sign me up for a hot cocoa.
MR. REDBONE
What I need is a stiff drink, ugh, I’ll settle for a root bear.
MITCHEL
Got it, be back in a second.
Mitchel opened the door and was blocked by Officer Alfie.
MITCHEL
Hey, I’m just trying to get to the vending machine.
OFFICER ALFIE
No can do, we can’t run the risk of you being seen.
MITCHEL
Come on dude, (Mitchel lowered his voice) my Dad’s bumming out and I can go for some air.
OFFICER ALFIE
Yeah, and say there’s a drive-by and your body is littered with holes. I can’t have that on my record.
They argued a couple of minutes more until Mitchel was able to convince Alfie to buy the items for him as long as he gave him the money. When Alfie reached the outdoor lounge area with all the machines lined up on a wall, he forgot half the order and was about to return to Mitchel when a bolt of lightening blasted him. Three cloaked specter’s glowing in blue electricity hovered over Officer Alfie, then flew above to the upper landing, one shocked the remaining Officer who guarded Kevin and Ray’s door. The three spectre’s turned their attention to the door of the Redbone’s room, summoning energy that turned the door to ashes so they could glide through, Mitchel jumped in front of his parents.
MITCHEL
RUN I’LL HOLD THEM OFF!
Mitchel’s mother laughed while Mr. Redbone sighed in embarrassment.
MRS. REDBONE
Relax tiger, these are our friends from the book club.
MR. REDBONE
What took you so long?
The three Specter’s dropped to the floor, removing their hoods revealing themselves just to be three, middle aged female Skinwalkers.
FIRST SPECTER
The authorities actually did a serviceable job keeping you hidden.
MR. REDBONE
Let’s get moving.
MITCHEL
I’m not going anywhere until you tell me what’s going on here?
MRS REDBONE
Time is of the essence and we have a place to be, I’ll explain everything on the way there.
MITCHEL
What about Kevin and Ray?
MRS. REDBONE
That’s right, we can’t have them getting more people involved.
MR. REDBONE
Just knock them out we’ll take them with us.
When the three Specters’ went next door they noticed the back window had been open, and out the window burned tire marks sped out of the parking lot of the Motel.
After hearing the body of their guard drop outside their hotel door, Kevin and Ray immediately decided to make a run for it, leaping out the back window, headed straight for the cop car. Ray bashed in the driver side window and started height wiring it as Kevin entered the vehicle.
KEVIN
You can hot wire cars?
The engine roared to life, Ray grinned at his nephew.
RAY
Yes, and you’re extremely lucky.
The black and white Lincoln town car peeled out of the parking lot onto the streets getting as far away as it could.
KEVIN
So what do you think, Guastini’s were tracked us down.
RAY
Most certainly, I can’t imagine it being anyone else.
KEVIN
You need to pull over at a pay phone, I have to call Moriah.
RAY
I will do no such thing, if we were found then there is the possibility of a ole within the ranks.
KEVIN
What’s your plan?
Despite having the ability to fly, the Specter sisters arrived in a jet black SUV limo. One of the sisters drove the behemoth while the other two were seated in the back with the Redbone family. Mitchel couldn’t help but feel like a prisoner.
MITCHEL
Explain away, I’m listening.
MR. REDBONE
Son, look me in the eye and tell me you’re not fed up with your station in life.
MITCHEL

MR. REDBONE
As a skinwalker!
Mitchel was thrown for a loop.
MITCHEL
No, I mean it could be better for us I guess.
MR. REDBONE
Up here we’re treated as peasants, minimal jobs, no chance at any wealth or legacy.
MRS. REDBONE

Mitchel saw his parents speak these words, but they did not seem like themselves at all. He went a long with every word while also thinking of ways to escape.
Parking was difficult at the secluded mansion; Silas thought nothing of it, expecting its wealthy owner to be hosting an event, but the trek from where they parked up to the half mile long drive way was taking its toll on Candice.
CANDICE

SILAS
He’s an investor and he hosts a wicked game night.
JESSE

SILAS
It might be.

SILAS

The large pinewood double front doors were left slightly ajar, Silas, Candice and Jesse entered with trepidation. Along the marble hallway, shouts and sounds laser fire echoed off the walls, the three arrived to witness Kevin and Ray fighting against four Donarco enforcers.
